Critical to scholarship and to democracy, the Penn Libraries is an essential navigator in an information universe that is exponentially growing in size and complexity.

The Penn Libraries provides free and equal access to a vast array of information resources within Penn and around the globe. An integral part of Penn’s innovation ecosystem, the Penn Libraries jump-starts the creation of knowledge through our people, our collections and our spaces. We offer the latest technology, tools and infrastructure to our campus and community as we keep pace with the ever-changing worlds of library and information sciences.

The Power of Penn Campaign will ensure that the Penn Libraries remains as vibrant as ever to impact teaching, learning and research across the University and to demonstrate the importance of a world united through knowledge sharing.

CAMPAIGN GOAL: $40,000,000

Campaign Priorities

  • Transform the existing Biomedical Library into the Biotech Commons, a digitally enhanced space designed for collaboration, exploration and imagination in all disciplines at the University, especially biotechnology.
  • Spark innovation in teaching, research and learning across campus by pushing our position at the technological vanguard among library systems even further.
  • Expand community outreach by strengthening our supportive resources for first-generation students through mentorship and training and by providing even more schoolchildren across Philadelphia with access to books.
  • Enrich our exceptional cache of resources through continued acquisition, conservation and digitization to meet the evolving needs of all our constituents, now and in the future.
  • Endow key fellowships that attract creative and dynamic young scholars, boldly asserting our ability to develop information specialists who drive progress.
