Annenberg Center

Penn meets the city in an energetic celebration of the performing arts.

A vibrant hub of artistic innovation, the Annenberg Center has long been a regional leader in the presentation of contemporary performing arts. Showcasing a rich variety of music, dance, theatre and film to diverse audiences, we occupy a distinctive position in the dense Philadelphia cultural landscape. Now, under new leadership and with an ambitious strategic plan, the Center is integrating more deeply within the University community, fostering curricular and co-curricular partnerships across schools and disciplines—serving as the true center of performing arts at Penn.

This Campaign will support the creation of innovative new work and presentation of emerging and established artists across disciplines; integrate the performing arts more deeply into the curricular and University life experience; broaden our connections to the community through inclusive programs and performances; and transform and activate physical spaces at the Annenberg Center and beyond to foster exchange and collaboration in the arts.

CAMPAIGN GOAL: $10,000,000

Campaign Priorities

  • Creation—foster the development of innovative new work through partnerships, commissions, premieres and debuts, presenting emerging and established artists in a robust roster of compelling performances and public programs.
  • Integration—embed the performing arts into the University life experience through curricular and co-curricular collaborations, including artist residencies, master classes, internships and apprenticeships.
  • Inclusion—fortify our role as the University’s bridge to the community by strengthening our outreach and engagement programs to provide access to the professional performing arts for all.
  • Transformation—employ the campus as our canvas, activating spaces within the Annenberg Center and beyond to better serve students, artists and patrons in collaborative creation and appreciation of the performing arts.
