The Power of Penn Campaign will expand the most robust undergraduate grant-based financial aid program in the nation and will grow graduate and professional student aid to minimize the burden of debt. We will build spaces like the New College House West that unite people with common interests under one roof, and empower first-generation college students to achieve their full potential through the Penn First Plus initiative.
Remarkable advances are happening in every health arena at Penn. The pioneering work underway at Penn Dental, Penn Nursing, Penn Medicine and Penn Vet is transforming health outcomes in communities everywhere. The Campaign will help Penn Medicine speed the immunotherapy revolution to make the finest cancer treatments widely available while exploring their application to immune system-related diseases such as Alzheimer’s and HIV. The patient-centered, forward-thinking design of The Pavilion at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania will shape the patient experience with an unmatched level of coordinated care.
The world’s urgent need for clean, renewable energy is one of the most pressing challenges facing society. The Vagelos Institute of Energy Science and Technology gathers scientists to advance an aggressive research and teaching agenda that encompasses solar, fuel cells, wind, hydrogen fission and beyond. The Campaign will fund a new state-of-the-art Energy Science and Technology Research Building designed to support the Institute’s innovative, cross-disciplinary work. The Kleinman Center for Energy Policy at the Weitzman School of Design convenes thought leaders and visiting scholars to foster and implement energy policy innovations.
Offices, labs and production spaces come together at Pennovation Works on the banks of the Schuylkill River—an engine of economic opportunity designed to help researchers, entrepreneurs and industry partners translate inventions into viable ventures. On the western edge of campus, Tangen Hall, led by Penn Wharton Entrepreneurship, is where student innovators from Penn’s 12 Schools will collaborate with mentors and advisors to put ideas into practice and commercialize their concepts for real-world impact.
Penn advances scholarship and research that cross disciplines, continents and cultures to engage a rich diversity of voices in boundary-breaking, discovery-making collaboration. We will increase the number of endowed positions available to stellar faculty, including Penn Integrates Knowledge (PIK) University Professors and Presidential Term Professors. Penn Global will educate informed citizens for contemporary times, and the Penn Museum’s Building Transformation will connect us to the ancient world. Expanded Arts and Culture offerings will enrich the lives of those in the Penn community and beyond campus. The Behavior Change for Good Initiative will use neuroscience research, data and accessible technologies to improve human behavior and create lasting change.
